Radiation Oncology - Adaptive Therapy

Adaptive Re-contouring for Adaptive Therapy

Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) has made it possible to account for changes in patient position and anatomy from the start of treatment to completion.

Physical changes occurring during treatment can dramatically affect the dose that organs and tumors are receiving. Manually contouring multiple replanning CT's to account for these changes, however, is not always practical.

MIMvista has responded to this need with Adaptive Re-contouring, found within MIMcontouring Advanced and powered by the VoxAlign Deformation Engine™. Contours are automatically deformed from the patient's previous CT to match their anatomy in the current planning CT. Studies have shown time savings of 66-86% compared with manual re-contouring.1,2

Dramatically reducing the time to re-contour a patient, Adaptive Re-contouring enables consistent and quick re-planning – making true adaptive radiation therapy practical.

MIMvista has made adaptive replanning of head and neck IMRT cases a feasible standard operating procedure in our department. MIMvista has decreased physician turn around of approved volumes by a significant amount."
